In the book of Zephaniah, God warns GAZA would one day "be forsaken" (yes, that same Gaza (and Ashkelon and Ashdod) you have recently been watching on the world news). Gaza is in the land which was given to the tribe of Judah (Joshua 15:1-12), and one of Messiah's titles is "The Lion of the Tribe of Judah" (Revelation 5:5 ... also see Genesis 49:9). The Bible links the forsaking of Gaza to the coming "Apocalypse," which is also called "The Day of Wrath" and the "Day of the Lord's Anger."

GOD wants the children of ISRAEL and ALL MANKIND on Earth to learn and to know at least THREE (3) things . . .
#1. GOD has issued a TERRIBLE warning and a 'plea' to both the Children of Israel and to ALL people on Earth . . .
"Gather yourselves together,
Yes, gather together O undesirable nation
(the nation who would willingly try to give God's Land to her enemies)
Before the decree is issued,
Before the day passes like chaff,
Before the Lord's fierce anger comes upon you,

Seek the Lord,

#2. GOD wants all in Israel and on Earth to know WHAT will help trigger His fierce and terrible anger: GAZA!!! He warns, "Gaza will be forsaken"... her inhabitants (the children of Israel) "uprooted" and "driven out" . . .

And ASHKELON desolate; (it will continue to grow worse ...)

The nation of the Cherethites!
The Word of the Lord is against you,

#3. GOD also wants all to know there is HOPE. He promises hope for all those who will wait in faith and trust in Jesus Christ (Yeshua Ha'Mashiach in Hebrew) ... for one-day in the future, after the coming 'Apocalypse' ... the 'Day of God's Wrath' ... the terrible coming 'Day of the Lord' ... a remnant of the tribe of Judah will once again peacefully inhabit and prosper in that precious land God promised and gave to them ... and then, and only then, will there be 'peace on Earth.' For at that time, our Messiah and God will restore all the Earth in peace and beauty ... as promised.
"The seacoast shall be pastures,
With shelters for shepherds and folds for flocks.
The coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah;
They (the remnant of the house of Judah) shall feed there flocks there (coastlands of Gaza);
In the houses of Ashkelon they shall lie down at evening.

THIS war will be unlike any other war in history ... this war will unleash a series of irreversible events which will change the world forever. God has set aside two whole chapters in the Bible to warn Mankind of this coming war ... God warns Iran (Persia), with Russia (Magog), and a coalition of allies (including Turkey, Libya, and Sudan) will attack and will invade Israel. In Ezekiel 38-39 the Bible warns this coming war between Iran (Persia) and Israel will take place sometime AFTER Israel has been re-gathered into Her land as a nation (which was fulfilled on May 14, 1948) ... this prophetic war has never yet taken place ... the only time in history Persia (Iran) has ever gone to war against Israel was to help Israel throw off the yoke of the Byzantine Empire around 614 AD.
THE BIBLE warns the US will NOT defend Israel. According to the Bible, Israel must stand alone ... with God. For when this coming war does finally start, the United States will be unwilling (or unable) to help Israel defend herself. Even though the Bible warns the invading armies will be ultimately destroyed by God, it will be a devastating war for both Israel and the whole world. Bible scholars are divided as to whether this coming war is part of the prophetic battle of Armageddon or will just precede Armageddon in order to prepare a path for the Antichrist (a coming World Leader who will enforce a Peace Plan ("covenant") upon Israel) which will trigger the final prophetic 7-Year period of time which God has set aside for Israel and the World which is sometimes called the "Apocalypse" ...
