Please read the following verses carefully. We are now seeing Bible prophecy and a great last warning from God being fulfilled. Here, the Bible links 'the day of the Lord's anger' (one of the terms used in the Bible for the coming 'Apocalypse') to the 'forsaking of Gaza.' It was the Romans who translated Philistine to 'Palestine' which gives us 'Palestinians' for Philistines. In these following verses God first gives us (as always) a last plea and call to repentance (turning back to God) to both Israel and the world for He will shelter and protect all who will draw near to Him from the coming time of trouble... for God warns the forsaking of Gaza will begin the rise of His fierce anger. One of the other names for the coming 'Apocalypse' is the 'Day of God's wrath.' We know from prophecy that 2/3 of the people of Israel will be 'cut-off and die' for unbelief (Zech 13:8-9) ... and the death and devastation will be even greater in the nations of the world for turning against Israel. As Jesus-Yeshua, the Messiah warns, "Unless those days be shortened, no flesh on Earth would be saved ..."

Zephaniah 2:1-7

(God links the forsaking of Gaza to the coming 'Apocalypse'... also called 'The Day of Wrath')

First, a terrible warning and a 'plea' to Israel and to all inhabitants of the Earth ...

"Gather yourselves together,

Yes, gather together O undesirable nation

Before the decree is issued,

Before the day passes like chaff,

Before the Lord's fierce anger comes upon you,

Before the day of the Lord's anger comes upon you!

Seek the Lord, all you meek of the Earth who have upheld His justice,

Seek righteousness,

Seek humility.

It may be that you will be hidden

In the day of the Lord's anger." [One of the terms used for the coming 'Apocalypse.']

Because Gaza will be forsaken ... her inhabitants uprooted and driven out.

"For Gaza shall be forsaken,

And Ashkelon desolate;

They shall drive out Ashdod at noonday,

And Ekron shall be uprooted.

Woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast,

The nation of the Cherethites!

The word of the Lord is against you,

O Canaan, land of the Philistines (Palestinians):

"I [God] will destroy you;

So there shall be no inhabitant."

Then God promises hope for those who wait in faith and trust in His Messiah, Yeshua-Jesus ... for one-day in the future after the coming 'day of God's anger' (the terrible day of wrath ... the 'Apocalypse') a remnant of the tribe of Judah will once again peacefully inhabit the precious land God promised to them ...

"The seacoast shall be pastures,

With shelters for shepherds and folds for flocks.

The coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah;

They (the remnant of the house of Judah) shall feed there flocks there (coastlands of Gaza);

In the houses of Ashkelon they shall lie down at evening.

The the Lord their God will intervene for them,

And return their captives."

Through the prophet Ezekiel, God tells us why He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah ...

"This was the iniquity [sin] of your sister Sodom:

She [Sodom] and her daughter [Gomorrah] had

pride, fullness of food, and abundance of idleness;

neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy,

and they were arrogant (haughty) ...

Therefore, I [God] took them away as I saw fit." [He destroyed ('disinfected') them with fire ...]

In these verses, God links open homosexuality in a society to sinful 'pride' and 'arrogance' ... the sin of Satan. Sodom and Gomorrah were condemned and destroyed because they were filled with sinful pride and arrogance while flaunting their sexual immorality and their homosexuality openly before God. They mocked God and they had no fear of God. They were also found guilty of having 'fullness of food' without thanking or acknowledging God who provided it, and having 'an abundance of idleness' in the land (basically 'they did that which was right in their own eyes' as they ate, drank, watched TV, and had their 'Gay Pride' parades, filling the lusts of their eyes, their imaginations, and their flesh ... the people were so de-sensitized to sin they just stood by as homosexuals tried to 'gang-rape' the two men/angels God sent to warn Lot ... and their bars, restaurants, shopping malls, and pornography web-sites were bustling ... while their worthless priests, rabbis, ministers, and 'reverends' were assuring the people in the pews that God's Word and His Law somehow did not apply to them and they could continue to do whatever felt good or felt right to them, even when in direct opposition to God's Law ... which is Holy). They were also getting fat while the poor and needy were neglected and they offered them no meaningful work or training. All of this reflected their arrogant and rebellious attitudes toward God and His Word. Sin meant nothing to them and there was no fear of God. Would these charges indict and convict any people or nation(s) you know today? God's judgment against Sodom was just and was given as a warning to a future generation! The Bible warns the coming 'Apocalypse' (and Hell) will be like the judgment against Sodom (only worse), but this time it will come against the whole unbelieving world! Our time is short. God is pleading with us to acknowledge and to stop (repent of) our sinful ways and return to Him before it's too late. With open arms and with tears of joy He will welcome any and all who willingly return to Him through the One He sent forth to save us ... Yeshua/Jesus ... the promised Messiah. And, as with Lot (and Enoch before the Flood), God promises to remove ('Rapture') those who will sincerely return to Him in faith before the coming 'Apocalypse,' which the Bible also calls 'the Great Tribulation,' 'the Time of Jacob's [Israel's] Trouble,' 'the Last Days,' 'the Day of the Lord,' the 'Time of the End,' and the 'Day of God's Wrath' ...

though you are little among the thousands of Judah,

from everlasting." [The prophets wrote Messiah would be born in Bethlehem ... and He would be eternal.]

Apparently, God wanted the children of Israel (and the world) to know three things through this prophecy ...

1. The Messiah would be born in Bethlehem

2. The Messiah would rise out of Judah

3. The Messiah would be eternal ...

Yet, Israel is willing to give this same Bethlehem (home of Ruth, Boaz, King David, and Yeshua/Jesus) away to their enemies. This prophecy was written about 300 years after King David and about 700 years before Jesus/Yeshua was born in Bethlehem ... it was 14 generations from King David to the Babylonian captivity and 14 generations from the Babylonian captivity until the Messiah (Christ) [see Matt 1:17, which includes the genealogy] ... Jesus/Yeshua was a direct descendant of King David through both Mary [His mother] and through Joseph [His adopted father] - that is why Mary and Joseph had to travel to Bethlehem when the Romans forced all the citizens of Israel to register for taxes in their 'home towns.' The Jewish religious leaders of the day never denied Jesus/Yeshua was a direct descendant of King David because at that time all the Jewish genealogies were kept in the Temple as they waited for Messiah, and they were easily verified. Isn't it interesting that God allowed all the Jewish genealogies to be destroyed with the Temple in the same generation which Messiah was put to death (exactly as the prophet Daniel predicted.) It's as though God felt they would no longer be necessary. God warns in 'the last days' 2/3 of the people of Israel would 'be cut-off and die' because of their lack of faith and unbelief in God's Word.
