Note:  The church of "Sardis" receives no "commendations."  Although all these letters are written to specific churches and to ALL churches, some feel "Sardis" might also include or reflect the great denominational-state churches ... just as the church of "Thyatira" (in Revelation 2) might also include or reflect the Roman church ... both of these churches and "Laodicea" (see below) may not escape the Tribulation ... even though some faithful individual members will love, trust, and obey Jesus sincerely enough to escape the terrible "Great Tribulation" (the "Apocalypse") ...

To the Church in Sardis
