Day 347 Daily Bible Reading Joel 1-3 (Listen)1:1 The word of the Lord that came to Joel, the son of Pethuel: An Invasion of Locusts
Hear this, you
elders;
What the cutting
locust left,
Awake, you drunkards,
and weep,
Lament like a virgin [1]
wearing sackcloth
Be ashamed, [2]
O tillers of the soil; A Call to Repentance
Put on sackcloth and
lament, O priests;
Consecrate a fast;
Alas for the day!
The seed shrivels
under the clods; [4]
To you, O
Lord, I call. The Day of the Lord
2:1 Blow
a trumpet in Zion;
Fire devours before
them,
Their appearance is
like the appearance of horses,
Before them peoples
are in anguish;
The earth quakes
before them; Return to the Lord
“Yet even now,”
declares the Lord,
Blow the trumpet in
Zion;
Between the vestibule
and the altar The Lord Had Pity
Then the
Lord became
jealous for his land
“I will remove the
northerner far from you,
“Fear not, O land;
“Be glad, O children
of Zion,
“The threshing floors
shall be full of grain;
“You shall eat in
plenty and be satisfied, The Lord Will Pour Out His Spirit
[9]
“And it shall come to pass afterward, “And I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke. The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes. And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those who escape, as the Lord has said, and among the survivors shall be those whom the Lord calls. The Lord Judges the Nations3:1 [10] “For behold, in those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. And I will enter into judgment with them there, on behalf of my people and my heritage Israel, because they have scattered them among the nations and have divided up my land, and have cast lots for my people, and have traded a boy for a prostitute, and have sold a girl for wine and have drunk it. “What are you to me, O Tyre and Sidon, and all the regions of Philistia? Are you paying me back for something? If you are paying me back, I will return your payment on your own head swiftly and speedily. For you have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried my rich treasures into your temples. [11] You have sold the people of Judah and Jerusalem to the Greeks in order to remove them far from their own border. Behold, I will stir them up from the place to which you have sold them, and I will return your payment on your own head. I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the people of Judah, and they will sell them to the Sabeans, to a nation far away, for the Lord has spoken.”
Proclaim this among
the nations:
Hasten and come,
Put in the sickle,
Multitudes,
multitudes,
The
Lord roars from
Zion, The Glorious Future of Judah
“So you shall know
that I am the Lord
your God,
“And in that day
“Egypt shall become a
desolation Revelation 4 (Listen)The Throne in Heaven4:1 After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” At once I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne. And he who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald. Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, clothed in white garments, with golden crowns on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, and rumblings [14] and peals of thunder, and before the throne were burning seven torches of fire, which are the seven spirits of God, and before the throne there was as it were a sea of glass, like crystal. And around the throne, on each side of the throne, are four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind: the first living creature like a lion, the second living creature like an ox, the third living creature with the face of a man, and the fourth living creature like an eagle in flight. And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say,
“Holy, holy, holy, is
the Lord God Almighty, And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
“Worthy are you, our
